Marie Curie has been nominated as charity of the year at Woolton Golf Club for 2018-2019. The Partnership, which started back in March has seen some fantastic fundraising efforts from the club so far and there are plenty more events planned for the remainder of the year.
So far the club have raffled off the Captains car parking space, held a Tea Party and a dinner. Fiona Marsden, the Lady Captain and Robert Owen, the President came into the hospice to present the first donation to the charity.
“I’m aware of the fantastic job Marie Curie does and that it’s fully deserving of the support of the golf club. I wanted to raise funds so that they can continue with the excellent work they do in providing care for people living with a terminal illness and their families. We are lucky to have the Hospice in our local community”.
The £1170 donation that Marie Curie received from the golf club will help the charity to continue providing it’s vital services in the local community. For every £20 raised Marie Curie can provide one hour of nursing care to a person living with a terminal illness.
Local Marie Curie Fundraiser Jessica Herrington said:
“I’d like to say a big thank you to the Woolton Golf Club for nominating Marie Curie as this year charity and to all the members of the club for the generosity and really getting behind the fundraising so far. Marie Curie are extremely grateful for the support of local organisation like the Woolton Golf Club as it means we can continue to provide care and services to the community”.
The Golf Club are planning a Fashion show later this year, amongst other events to help continue fundraising for the hospice.
